Neighbors
They never saw us coming, never noticed us after we
landed - neighbors.
Despite our bright golden lights, something we had no
control over, they never looked.
Moving along their bridge contraption, going
nowhere, I suspected, they continued on, hamsters on a treadmill.
We floated to a nearby shore, changing form,
handsome and beautiful, our newly formed feet touching soil, and separated,
each going his or her own way.
Our telepathic abilities – hive-like, humans would
call them – would allow us to communicate from a distance.
Twelve of us came, one life for each month, one year
to cleanse this dark place.
